Learn to say NO!

1. Don’t take on more than you can handle.  Don’t say yes to baking 50 cookies by tomorrow if you can’t do it.  JUST SAY NO! -  or go buy them.
   

2. Not volunteering for things right now is ok.  Really.  Don’t volunteer for Room Mom if you have two little ones at home.  Wait until the youngest goes to Kindergarten.
   

Play to your strengths

1. Don’t volunteer to bake cookies if you can’t cook.  Don’t scrapbook, if you don’t like it.  Don’t offer to sew costumes, if you can’t sew.  I do none of the above, why? Because, I suck at it.
   

2. I take pictures.  That’s what I’m good at.  I’m better than most of the other moms.  Yes, I am tooting my own horn.  I can’t cook, but I can take 200 awesome pictures, edit them and have them posted to a website before most people pull into their driveway.  Yes, I am awesome – but I burn Pop Tarts.
