Young Hip vs Age Denial

Fact: As you get older, your hair should get lighter and shorter and your skirts, tops and cleavage longer.  Seriously.

It’s one thing to embrace your youth.  It’s another thing to deny your decade.  I’m in my 40’s.  Do I dress like I’m in my 20’s? no.  That’s ridiculous.  Seriously.  Don’t pretend you are two decades younger – one ok, but not two or three.  You'll look ridiculous.

If you are pushing 60, should you have long, dark hair and wear low cut tops and tight ripped jeans?  You know who I’m talking about.  Yes and Cher.

Come on ladies, you know what I’m talking about.

Age denial is treatable.  Age delusions need treatment.

I am not a fashionista.  I don’t care about name brands.  I care about comfort, practicality and easy clean.  Don’t get me wrong.  I love Coach purses, but really, they aren’t functional, they are really expensive and I would worry about ruining it running around with kids.  Get a small bag, if you must, and save it for special occasions.

Don’t wear dry clean only clothes when you are near kids.

Wear hats.  Two reasons: bad hair days and sun protection.

Wrinkles – best defense is an offence – WEAR SUNSCREEN.  Too late?  Start WEARING SUNSCREEN.  Look at the skin on your butt.  Unless you have been to the French Riviera, your skin should be pure, smooth as silk (cellulite and stretch marks don’t count).  Imagine if you wore sunscreen every day – your face, hands, arms, breasts would be like that.

Hair color.  If you are going to color your own hair, don’t buy the cheap color.  Spend the extra couple bucks.  It really does make a difference.

Make-up.  I don’t use a lot of make-up.  I’ve tried almost every brand out there.  Here is the list of what I use and what works best for me:

  • Foundation- Bare Essentials Minerals (has sunscreen)
  • Lipstick- Mac Pro Longwear Lip Color – Put on in the morning, usually lasts until bedtime.  Only bad thing – you cannot reapply color if it fades.  You have to remove it and then reapply.
  • Mascara- Loreal Voluminous Mascara – I go expensive – but always come back
  • Eyeliner- Aqua Eyes Waterproof Eyeline
  • Haircolor- Loreal

If all else fails,
smile and nod.
