There are two kinds of snacks - Healthy and Unhealthy. Always try to opt for the healthy choice. Unhealthy snacks can lead to fat, lazy kids. Obesity and diabetes are on the rise and can lead to life long problems. Read labels - anything with hydrogenated or partially hydrogenated oils should ALWAYS be avoided.

Go for:

  • Fruits
  • Vegetables
  • Whole grain breads, pretzels or crackers
  • Goldfish crackers
  • Yogurt
  • Cottage Cheese
  • Applesauce - unsweetened
  • 100% fruit juice
  • Air popped popcorn

Avoid:

  • Chips
  • Cookies
  • Candy
  • Anything fried
  • Sugar-filled commercial yogurt
  • Any juice that is a “fruit cocktail” or “fruit drink” - they have added sugar
  • Anything with hydrogenated or partially hydrogenated oils
